British Summer Time End

What time is it now by your watch?Because I'm not sure...

Gender Gaps on the Brain

I found an article about our brain which might be usefull for our knowledge : Gender gaps on the brain :

Did you know that women's brains are smaller than men's? The average male brain weighs about 1.3 kgs, while the average female brain weighs ten percent less. Since research has consistently shown that the bigger the brain, the cleverer the animal, men must be more intelligent than women. Right?. Wrong. Men and women consistently score similarly on intelligence test, despite the difference in brain size. But the difference it's not just the size of the brain, it's what's inside that counts. The brain consists of 'grey matter' (the part of the brain that helps us think) and 'white matter' (the part that helps us transfer information). And while men have more of the latter, the amount of 'thinking' brain is almost exactly the same in both sexes.

It has been suggested that, in case of human brains, smaller may also mean 'more efficient' perhaps because the two sides of the brain appear to be better connected in women. This means that little girl tend to learn to speak earlier and adult women can absorb all sorts of information from different sources at the same time, making them more adept at multi-tasking. Men seem to do better tackling one job at the same time.
There are other important differences that distinguish male and female brains. White matter is the key to spatial tasks - knowing where things are relation to other things - and men consistently do better on this kind of exercise. 'Spatial abilities are a big part of sports,'says one researcher. 'A great soccer player, for instance, always knows where he is relation to other player. It's not just a question about muscle and speed, it's knowing where to go - also explains one of life's grat mysteries : why men refuse to ask for directions...and woman often need to.
In adult life, these brain differences are clearly reflected in the career choices men and women make. 85 percent of the architect in the USA and 90 percent mechanic are men, both jobs which require spatial skills. Meanwhile 94 percent of speech therapist are women.
The brain is not static. It changes throughout our lives according what we do with it.

Hi there..long time not see

It's been almost a month I didn't write in this blog. I think I am now busier than my husband especially this month. I have an english class everyday and I find it very helpful to improve my english. The class very colorful with people from different country. Most of them from Poland and Italy, but some from Libya, Russia, India and Algeria. Some of them I have known before because we was in the same class on last March. Today, we learn about mishap...a small accident, for example when you get lost, you left something at home or you locked your self outside.

The funny thing when we listened to a story about Bill, Frank and an old woman. It was happened in midnight, after christmas party, in the outside it was very dark that they can't see anything. The road was so slippery but they have to managed reach their car in the park, the only way to keep them warm. But because the slippery road they were swaying and for some reason they found it very funny and they laugh they head off and try to hold on each other. While they were walking suddenly the police car drew up , the police officer get out and shouting to them. Bill and Frank tried to explain but the police didn't listen to them. They bring them to the near police station. To be honest, Bill didn't remember too much but a few hours later he found himself in the police cell. On the other hand, the old lady story was very different. He told that it was about 1 pm in the morning and the sky was very clearly. She had gone to bed at ten, as usual, but she had to get up to go to the bathroom. As she was getting back into bed, she heard a noise from outside. From the window she could see clearly that there is two young man shouting, swearing and very aggresive which tried to steal a car, they obviously had been drinking. As soon as she realised what was going on, she called the police and the two young man jailed by the police. You could see the different between two story, couldn't you?And which story was true in your opinion?

It's just one of many stories telling by my teacher. And today one of the teacher have been interviewed me as they will reported it to their trainee, she asked me to writing about anything, so I will be posted after she have checked it for me.

The Message

"Waiting for phone call from wages department, will let you know as soon as i hear anything"

This message I received about 2 week ago when I've got some problem with my employer after I've been working for almost a month. My supervisor went mad with this such a problem because many staff faced the same. I couldn't understand about this at all, because the wages department must have enough time to process everything and put me on the system. But it's become a new experience for me particulary how to tackle some problem. Never let anybody tackle your problem and you just doing nothing even there are many barrier problem. I've been waiting and keep waiting until the answer is yes. And then another message I have received two days later "I have just received a call to let me know that you are on the system and money will go into the bank today" Thanks a lot for this message, eventually I got my payslip though after that I noticed something goes wrong with it and I have to wait another two weeks.

Skill and Love Gae Best

Pertama kali nyampe ke Glasgow dulu sempet shock dengan accent orang-orang sini yang Scottish banget, sebelumnya nggak kebayang sama sekali...ternyata susah dimengerti. Beberapa teman dari negara lain juga mengeluhkan hal serupa..susah nangkep omongannya...tapi lama-kelamaan coba mengerti..ternyata emang beda loh...walaupun merupakan bagian dari UK tetapi accent mereka beda banget..coba deh simak beberapa kata berikut yang aku baca dari buku tentang Scottish...
Skill and love gae best artinya when skill and love work together the result is perfection

Yer only here a wee while, so be nice artinya be quick to be kind, life is so short

He that spares to speak spares to speed artinya don't talk - act
Sebenarnya yang biasanya masih nggunain bahasa diatas adalah scottish granny, kalo orang-orang mudanya sih udah nggak, cuman aksennya itu tetep....scottish..Salah satu yang menarik dan khas banget adalah Great Highland Bagpipe atau disebut juga Great pipes.
ps : yer = you, aye =yes, dinna=dont
